ASTM Certification
All Blundstone work boots are certified to an ASTM standard. The Blundstone Work range is specifically designed to withstand the toughest of environments, all to ensure your foot is not only safe, but comfortable. Packed with technical features from the list below, all boots in the range are outfitted with Electrical Hazard Resistant Technology, XRD Extreme Impact Protection and Oil/Acid Resistant soling materials.
CERTIFICATION: ASTM F2413-18 M/I/C EH PR MT
F2413-18:
From the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), this certification guarantees that boots meet the ASTM Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Protective (Safety) Toe Cap Footwear since 2018.
M = certifies that the product meets the standards for men’s footwear.
I = certifies that the product meets the standards for Impact safety-toe protection.
C = certifies that the product meets the standards for Compression safety-toe protection.
EH = certifies that the product meets the standards for Electrical Shock Resistant Protection.
EH protective footwear is designed to reduce the hazards due to accidental contact with live electrical circuits and is only meant to be used as a secondary protection for electrical hazard environments.
The outer surface of the sole and heel should not be significantly worn down or penetrated by any electrically conductive component, like nails in the heel or metal shavings.
EH shock resistant footwear must be capable of withstanding the application of 18,000 volts at 60 Hz for 1 minute with no current flow or leakage in excess of 1.0 milliampere.
PR = certifies that the product meets the standards for Sole Puncture Resistant Footwear.
Puncture resistant footwear includes a sole puncture resistant device (usually in the insole) which reduces the possibility of puncture wounds to the bottom of the feet.PR footwear should withstand a minimum nail penetration force of 270 pounds.
MT = certifies that the product meets the Metatarsal standards.
Metatarsal protection is designed to prevent or reduce injuries when the toe and metatarsal areas of the foot are exposed to hazards. Specifically, this is to protect the foot against weight and objects that may fall or be dropped on them.
This certification guarantees that boots meet the ASTM Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Protective (Safety) Toe Cap Footwear since 2018.
Certification: ASTM F2892-18
This certification confirms that boots meet the Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Soft Toe Protective Footwear (Non-Safety/Non-Protective Toe). Both the 490 and 491 have this certification.
